Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes in acting, singing as well as dancing. The actress had performed in numerous Stagecoach or school shows by the time she was ten years old. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. After eight auditions consistently, director David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected to play the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film set records on opening day and weekend revenues, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Reviewers were awed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma received five awards for her performance in the film.
